A consultation appointment to evaluate your medical history is necessary before IV sedation treatment can be scheduled.
The minimum age for anyone utilizing IV sedation at our office is 12 years old and over.
What is IV Sedation?
- IV sedation involves starting an intravenous catheter in your hand or arm
- Anesthesia medications are administered IV to achieve the desired level of sedation
- The level of sedation is usually classified as deep. Under deep sedation, you will be asleep and will not have recall during the procedure
- Your blood pressure, heart rate, heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, end-tidal Co2, respiratory rate, temperature, and level of consciousness will be monitored continuously throughout the procedure
- Additional oxygen may be administered via nasal cannula
- Vigilant coordination and communication will occur between the CRNA, dentist, and staff to provide the highest quality of care for you
